Project Overview

The new Footscray Hospital is a major healthcare infrastructure project designed to support the growing healthcare needs of Melbourne’s western suburbs. The new hospital provides modern clinical facilities and an expanded range of healthcare services for the local community.

Project Requirements

The project required sanitaryware and safety equipment suited to a modern hospital environment, with consideration for:
• Clinical basin design, effective drainage and cleanability.
• Reduced conditions that may contribute to splash and aerosol generation.
• Neat, integrated finishes around basin plumbing.
• Emergency shower and eyewash facilities for relevant safety applications.

GENTEC Solution

GENTEC supplied STERISAN® wall-mounted Type A clinical basins with rear offset waste. The rear offset waste positions the drain away from the direct water stream, helping minimise water impact into the outlet and conditions that may contribute to splash and aerosol generation while the sloped bowl surfaces support effective drainage.

Matching STERISAN® shrouds provide a coordinated finish while enclosing exposed pipework.

For emergency safety washing applications, GENTEC supplied the ECOSAFE Stainless Steel Floor Mounted Combination Safety Shower and Eyewash Unit, featuring foot-pedal operation.
