TEMPSET Lead-Free Brass Tapware Model

The Gentec TEMPSET range is a family of 8 Lead-Free DZR Brass thermostatic mixing taps delivering point-of-use temperature-controlled water at individual basin, shower and hob positions across Australian healthcare, aged care, education, corrections and accessible facility projects. All models use a chrome-plated dezincification-resistant (DZR) brass body with a thermostatic cartridge integrated into the tap – providing scald protection at ≤45°C per AS 4032.1 without a separate zone mixing valve at each outlet. Laminar flow at the outlet reduces aerosol generation in patient-facing clinical environments. The range includes standard lever models (100mm and 150mm), in-wall models with stainless steel enclosures, and an anti-ligature wall-mounted model for secure environments. For zone-level NSW Health Approved thermostatic mixing valves, see Thermostatic Mixing Valves and FLOMIX. For the complete thermostatics portfolio, visit the Thermostatic Plumbing Products hub.

Why specifiers choose Gentec

  • 8-model family covering all installation positions: hob, wall, in-wall, and anti-ligature – allowing a single product specification clause to cover multiple room types in a healthcare or aged care project.
  • Lead-Free DZR Brass body: complying with AS 2345 for reliable performance in demanding plumbing applications.
  • Chrome-plated finish: provides a hard, non-porous surface that resists hospital-grade disinfectants including chlorine-based solutions and quat compounds.
  • Laminar flow outlet: documented in product descriptions – provides clinically relevant aerosol minimisation per NSW Health and ASHRAE 188 guidance.
  • 100mm and 150mm lever options in the same product family: enables DDA/AS1428.1 compliant specification for accessible and standard commercial bathrooms from a single supplier.
  • Anti-ligature model (MVPMLF20AV): extends TEMPSET specification into corrections, mental health, and secure wards without switching product family.
  • In-wall stainless steel enclosure on selected models: protects the thermostatic cartridge in concealed installations and provides a lockable, tamper-resistant access point.

Which tapware is right for my project?

  • Choose TEMPSET : Your specification requires a visible, lever-operated thermostatic mixing tap at an individual basin, shower or hob with an integrated thermostatic cartridge – hospital wards, aged care bathrooms, accessible bathrooms, corrections facilities.
  • Choose Thermostatic Mixing Valves instead : Your specification requires a zone-level thermostatic mixing valve installed in a wall cavity or plant room, serving multiple outlets, with NSW Health Approval and stainless steel lockable enclosure.
  • Choose a different Gentec range: For standard (non-thermostatic) commercial tapware, see Gentec’s GPURE®NUGEN, GPURE®CLEANLINE, SMARTEC or FLOSTOP ranges. For sensor tapware, see GPURE®SMARTEC PLUS.

How to Choose

  • Determine mount position: hob (MVPMLF10100/10150), wall (MVPMLF30100/30150), in-wall shower (MVPMLF20100), in-wall electronic outlet (MVPMLF5000), in-wall fixed spout (MVPMLF5250), or anti-ligature wall (MVPMLF20AV).
  • Select lever length for the position: 100mm for standard commercial; 150mm for DDA/AS1428.1 accessible bathrooms; anti-ligature control for secure environments.
  • Verify enclosure requirement: three in-wall models include an integrated stainless steel enclosure (MVPMLF20100, MVPMLF5000, MVPMLF5250).
  • Include in project specification: add model code, WaterMark licence number, WELS registration, and lead content (Pb%) to the hydraulic specification schedule.

Common Mistakes When Specifying

  • Specifying MVPMLF30150 (wall-mounted) when a hob-mounted tap is required
  • Specifying the 100mm lever for an accessible bathroom: AS1428.1 accessible bathrooms typically require longer lever handles.
  • Assuming all TEMPSET in-wall models have the same enclosure dimensions: MVPMLF20100, MVPMLF5000 and MVPMLF5250 have different rough-in dimensions.
  • Specifying TEMPSET as a replacement for an in-wall zone TMV: TEMPSET is a point-of-use tap – it does not replace a zone-level thermostatic mixing valve.
  • Omitting the Revit file request at design development stage: request early to avoid retrospective BIM coordination.

TEMPSET LEAD-FREE BRASS TAPWARE MODEL FAQ's

What does TEMPSET mean in the Gentec range?

TEMPSET is Gentec’s model name for its range of point-of-use thermostatic mixing taps – signifying temperature-set functionality: a thermostatic cartridge integrated into the tap body to maintain a preset mixed water temperature at individual outlets.

What is Lead-Free DZR Brass?

Lead-Free DZR (dezincification-resistant) brass is a copper-zinc alloy that resists selective zinc removal when exposed to hot water, manufactured to a lead content that satisfies lead-free certification thresholds under AS/NZS 4020 and NCC 2022. DZR brass is tested to AS 2345.

How many TEMPSET models are available?

Eight TEMPSET models: MVPMLF10100 (hob 100mm), MVPMLF10150 (hob 150mm), MVPMLF30100 (wall 100mm), MVPMLF30150 (wall 150mm), MVPMLF20100 (in-wall shower), MVPMLF20AV (anti-ligature wall), MVPMLF5000 (in-wall electronic outlet), and MVPMLF5250 (in-wall fixed spout).

Does the TEMPSET range include an in-wall model?

Yes. Three models are designed for in-wall installation: MVPMLF20100 (shower with SS enclosure), MVPMLF5000 (temperature control dial, electronic tap outlet, SS enclosure), and MVPMLF5250 (150mm lever, 250mm fixed spout, SS enclosure).

What material is the TEMPSET tap body?

The TEMPSET tap body is Lead-Free DZR (dezincification-resistant) Brass with a chrome-plated finish. DZR brass is a copper-zinc alloy tested to AS 2345, designed to resist dezincification in recirculated hot water systems -the predominant plumbing system type in commercial healthcare buildings in Australia. The ‘Lead-Free’ designation means the alloy meets the lead content threshold for drinking water contact under AS/NZS 4020 and NCC 2022.

Are TEMPSET taps suitable for concealed installation?

Yes, for three models. MVPMLF20100 (in-wall shower with 100mm lever), MVPMLF5000 (in-wall with temperature control dial and electronic outlet), and MVPMLF5250 (in-wall with 150mm lever and 250mm fixed spout) are all designed for concealed in-wall installation and include a stainless steel in-wall enclosure for protecting the thermostatic cartridge from tampering and accidental damage in high-traffic public areas.

Is there a TEMPSET model with an electronic tap outlet?

Yes. The MVPMLF5000 is an in-wall point-of-use thermostatic mixing valve with a temperature control dial, electronic tap outlet, and stainless steel in-wall enclosure – combining thermostatic temperature control with sensor-activated hands-free flow control, a useful combination for high-touch clinical basins where hands-free operation reduces cross-contamination risk in infection control settings such as hospital wards and aged care.
