Gentec FLOMIX thermostatic mixing valves are NSW Health Approved zone-level TMVs manufactured from Lead-Free DZR Brass with a chrome-plated finish, designed for recessed wall-cavity installation in Australian hospitals, aged care facilities and institutional buildings. Unlike point-of-use thermostatic mixing taps, FLOMIX valves condition the mixed water temperature for a zone or circuit of multiple outlets – satisfying NSW Health PD2015_012 requirements and AS/NZS 3500.4:2003. How to Choose

  • Determine whether a cold water bypass is required by the engineering design:  If yes, specify MVLF60154 or MVLF60154H. If not, specify MVLF60153/60153H or MVLF5015/6015.
  • Select enclosure type:  stainless steel recessed lockable enclosure models (MVLF60153 series) for concealed installation. MVLF5015 and MVLF6015 are supplied without a separate enclosure.
  • Select lid type: hinged lid (H models) if maintenance access and swing clearance are available; recessed lockable lid (non-H models) where space is constrained.

What is the difference between MVLF60153 and MVLF60154?

The MVLF60154 includes a cold water bypass in addition to the stainless steel recessed enclosure and copper tails; the MVLF60153 does not have a cold water bypass.

What is the difference between hinged and recessed lockable lid FLOMIX models?

The H-suffix models have a hinged lockable lid that swings open on a hinge for service access. The non-H models have a recessed lockable lid that is removed completely for access. The choice depends on wall-cavity depth and maintenance team preference.

Does FLOMIX require periodic calibration?

Yes. Under AS 4032.1 and AS/NZS 3500.4, thermostatic mixing valves must be periodically tested and calibrated to confirm the mixed water temperature remains within ±2°C of set point and the fail-safe thermal shutdown operates correctly.

Are FLOMIX valves suitable for aged care facilities outside NSW?

Yes. FLOMIX valves meet AS/NZS 3500.4, AS 4032.1 and carry Lead-Free construction applicable across all Australian states and territories under NCC 2022.
