What is the difference between infrared and laser sensor taps?

Infrared sensor taps emit an invisible IR beam that detects reflected light from hands. Laser sensor technology uses a more precise beam, offering greater range accuracy and reduced false activations – ideal for busy commercial washrooms. Gentec’s GPURE® SMARTEC Plus and GENEVO ranges feature laser sensor technology, while the SMARTEC range uses proven infrared sensors.

Are Gentec sensor taps compliant with Australian Standards?

Yes. All Gentec electronic sensor taps carry Watermark certification and comply with Australian Standards. They also carry a WELS 6-star or NABERS rating, making them eligible for green building projects and water efficiency programmes.

Can Gentec sensor taps be battery powered or do they need mains power?

Both options are available. The GPURE® GENEVO range operates entirely without mains power, using a proprietary long-life battery. The SMARTEC range supports both battery and mains power configurations, and the power source can be changed after installation if needed.

Are these taps suitable for healthcare facilities?

Yes. Gentec sensor taps are widely specified in Australian hospitals, aged care facilities, and medical centres. The built-in hygiene flush programming minimises Legionella risk, and the zero-lead stainless steel models (GPURE® SMARTEC Plus and GENEVO) contain 0.00% lead –safer than even lead-free brass which may contain up to 0.25% lead.

What warranty do Gentec electronic sensor taps come with?
