33 Alfred Street is one of Sydney’s most iconic commercial office buildings, originally completed in 1962 as the city’s first skyscraper. The multi-million-dollar refurbishment has transformed the heritage-listed tower into a premium-grade workplace, combining modern sustainability, performance and tenant amenities while preserving its architectural significance.
The redevelopment delivers approximately 32,000m² of premium office space, upgraded services and contemporary end-of-trip facilities, with a strong focus on sustainability and performance, including a targeted 6 Star Green Star rating.
Project Requirements
As a large-scale commercial refurbishment project, the building required plumbing and sanitary solutions that:

GENTEC Solution
GENTEC supplied SMARTEC Electronic Sensor Tapware solutions designed to enhance hygiene, water efficiency and user experience within commercial washroom environments. The STS2500BM wall-mounted Electronic Sensor Taps, together with STS2500EXT extensions, were selected to provide reliable, touch-free operation in high-use areas.
All Electronic Sensor Tapware was supplied with 4 LPM outlets, supporting reduced water consumption and aligning with the project’s sustainability goals, including its targeted 6 Star Green Star rating. These solutions deliver long-term durability, ease of maintenance and consistent performance in demanding commercial environments.
